Delegation of Danish Atlantic Treaty Association visit to Kharkiv

2 – 3 of December 2008 Delegation of Danish Atlantic Treaty Association visited Kharkiv. The group of Mr. Troels Froling the head of Danish ATA, Ivan Andresen - Danish ATA and Jan Jacob Floryan, journalist of Danish State TV channel, met with the teachers and students of military-legal faculty of the Ukrainian National Justice Academy named after Yaroslav Wise at which the head of Danish Atlantic Treaty Association related about the numerous preferences of NATO membership.

The Slovak Embassy in Ukraine and the contact NATO Embassy in Ukraine as well as NATO – Ukraine Civic League contributed to the organization of the event in Kharkiv.

TV BRIDGE KYIV – BRUSSELS “UKRAINE – NATO – WHAT IS NEXT?”

TV bridge Kyiv – Brussels “Ukraine-NATO – what is next?” was held in the premises of a National information agency Ukrinform on the 4th of December, initiated by “Democratic initiatives” Fund.

Participants in the Ukrainian studio were: Borys Tarasuk – the Head of the Committee upon questions of European integration of Verkhovna Rada in Ukraine, Serhiy Dzherdzh – the Head of NATO – Ukraine Civic League, Ilko Kucheriv – “Democratic initiatives” Fund director and others.

Participants in the Belgian studio were: Robert Simmons and Michel Duray – NATO Information and Document Centre to Ukraine.

While leading through the meeting the questions of further NATO – Ukraine collaboration, mechanisms of ensuring the security of Ukraine in the condition of geopolitical division were talked over.

MEETING OF IV AND V SPECIAL GROUPS

Meeting of the IV and V Special groups of NATO – Ukraine Membership Network was hosted by NATO Liaison Office and with the assistance of NATO – Ukraine Civic League. An international seminar headlined “Expert’s assessment as for the results of Euro Atlantic reforms in Ukraine: the state and perspectives” was held in the very same day in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine premises. The Head of this Parliamentary Committee – Borys Tarasyuk greeted the participants and made an address to them at which a leading role of Ukrainian legislative body in the development of NATO – Ukraine bilateral relations was mentioned. The Head of NATO – Ukraine Civic League – Serhiy Dzherdzh turned his attention on the necessity of civic organization’s intensification at independent monitoring of Euro Atlantic reforms in Ukraine. Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Slovak Republic in Ukraine noticed that Slovak Republic will further maintain Ukrainian Euro Atlantic aspirations.

SEMINAR FOR UKRAINIAN MARINES
NATO – UKRAINE PRACTICAL COLLABORATION

An active operation

On the 10th of December 2008 an informatively-elucidative seminar took place during the camp collection of new rotation of national contingent of peacekeeper’s battalion in Kosovo. This Event was realized with the support of NATO-Ukraine Civic League and NATO Information and Document Centre to Ukraine in a settlement mountain on the base of the Separate Brigade of Coastguard Ukrainian Navy.

“ARMY AND SOCIETY” FORUM

Forum “Army and society” of civic organizations’ representatives who support
Euro Atlantic integration in Ukraine.

“Army and Society” forum of civic organizations’ representatives supporting Ukrainian Euro Atlantic integration was conducted by All Ukrainian civic organization “Democratic action” with the assistance of State Committee on television and broadcasting of Ukraine.

Public address of scientists, experts on security question, state officials were heard at the joint Forum that contributed positively to the elucidation of NATO – Ukraine collaboration.

Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Slovak Republic in Ukraine – Urban Rusnák and civic organization’s representatives, government institutions: Oleh Kokoshynskiy, Vadym Hrechaninov, Volodymyr Furashev, Petro Procyk and others took part in the work of a Forum.

While leading through the meeting the attention was paid at the issues of Euro Atlantic integration of Ukraine and state national security; the influence of Euro Atlantic factor on the growth of political, economic relations between Ukraine and neighboring states.
